Places & Factions
Isle of Beltar
The isle of Beltar is a large island located north of the Salenheim mainland. Historically Beltar is a province of Salenheim, however recently it has been bought out by the business giant Better World Corporation. Beltar is now the world’s only privatised country. Due to expert business management Beltar’s net value has skyrocketed, unfortunate human rights on the island are not so impressive. Legend says that Beltar was once home to a great city of magic wielding wizards, even if there was any truth to this they are all long dead.
Better World Corporation
Born hundreds of years ago as the Better World Lumber and Trade Guild, The Better World Corporation (BWco) is now by far the most massive business entry in the world. BWco is based out of Better World Tower (the world’s Tallest) in Salenheim city. With stakes in any and every possible industry it is rare to buy a product not profiting BWco somehow, expect in Kassamaki where BWco products are boycotted. BWco is headed by an unknown person referred to only as the CEO or by many colloquial names such as “Fascist bully boy” or “god”. BWco was partially responsible for ending the oppressive reign of the fanatic Church of Tiagrath, however some argue that the BWco is just as oppressive if a little more subtle.
Salenheim
The Nation of Salenheim is an entire continent unified under a single banner. For countless centuries Salenheim has been the undisputed world power. Recently however Salenheim has hit financial hardship, fearing its rivals the Salenheimian Government turned to the Better World corporation. A bill was passed allowing the better world corporation to field a private army; in return they would protect Salenheim’s boarders. The alliance of Salenheim and better world is now once again a true superpower, however now some questions are raised about who is truly in control.
PUK (peoples union of Kassamaki)
PUK represents a great number of small countries making up a continent to the west of Salenheim. Kassamaki is a land with rich culture free from the rampant capitalism of Salenheim. Although powerful and in theory unified there is far too much internal politics for the PUK to ever be a true world leader.
Better World Paranormal investigations division
A little known BWco department with huge funding, the paranormal investigations division is officially tasked with paranormal research and unofficially with genocide. Over the years it has been the paranormal investigations division who have been responsible for the extermination of many non human sentients such as Vampires, Kartika, and Gargoyles, finishing the work of the Church of Tiagrath before them. The current task at hand for the paranormal investigation division it to once and for all wipe out all magically sensitive individuals. Tactics like the force awakening serum and the highly classified ‘witch hunter project’ have been employed with harsh effectiveness. Unfortunately for BWco they may have finally pushed the mages too far and have started what might be a very bloody struggle.
Domus Mages
The last surviving cell of Mages on the isle of belter, the Domus mages are a grim but resolute school of wizards pushed dangerously close to extinction. Cut off from the mainland schools when the mages officially decided to go into hiding the Domus mages have been struggling against the BWco ever since. Lead by Purgatory the grand master of death magic, the Domus mages spend their time in their strong hold ‘Dolus Domus’ training and preparing for the battles ahead.
Dolus Domus
The strong hold of the Domus Mages, Dolus Domus is a peaceful sanctuary. None but its creator, the matter master known as substance knows its true location; it is speculated to be under the isle of Beltar however.
Characters- NPCs
Domus mages
Purgatory
Purgatory is the leader of the Domus Mages; he is a powerful grand master of death magic and is officially dead himself being a lich. Purgatory survives by absorbing one year of lifespan from each new initiate mage that join the Domus Mages. He has a keen interest in protecting the mages from extinction, stating this as his reason to live past his rightful time. Purgatory is grim and humourless agonising at every decision he must make.
Eon
Master of both forces and time Eon is arguably the most powerful mage on Beltar. Eon was exiled from Dolus Domus after a monumental fight with Purgatory. Eon warned that his premonitions predicted a great disaster if the mages did not attack the BWco right away, purgatory refused and a fight broke out. Only after Eon’s apprentice Entropy turned on his master was Eon defeated and banished, his parting words were “And so it is to be, may you both weather the storm”. Eon’s current location is unknown.
Entropy
Entropy is current leader of the School of force at Dolus Dorums despite in fact not being a master. Entropy is a self proclaimed Battle Mage although which battle exactly he has experienced is unknown. Entropy is reckless, rude and hot-headed both traits his former teacher Eon tried to tone down.
Vector
Mater of Space vector serves as a authority on logistics and tactics at Dolus Dorums. He spends most of his time in a universe he created himself but takes special precautions not to become detached from the real world. He is prudent and stern but not without sense of humour.
Cogs (tock)
Current leader of the School of Time in Eon’s absence, Cogs appears as a woman in her early 20s although she is far older. Cogs was originally trained is a mainland school but migrated to Beltar shortly before ties were broken and portals sealed.
Lucky
A very gifted fate mage and former carnie, Lucky is the master of fate at Dolus Domus. Although apparently a care free chap, lucky takes oaths and destiny very seriously.
Style
A master of the mind, style is an extremely gifted psychic. His outward appearance is of a somewhat seedy womanizer but his true personality is locked behind some many spells and enchantments it would be very hard to truly know style.
Substance
Being the old eccentric alchemist he is, it would appear substance is more interested tinkering and building wonderful creations that the fate of the mages. He is an optimistic, jolly old type who is content to play a supporting role.
Threshold
The life of a shaman is never easy and Threshold is no exception, he is constantly overwhelmed and distracted by the hundreds of thousands of sprits that he can see and hear. However when he does focus he can give insights far beyond what would seem possible.
Spring (springtime)
Spring is lead druid at Dolus Domus and is responsible for, healing, and production of food. Spring is unbelievably beautiful; however being a life mage it is very unlikely that it is her natural from. She is friendly and helpful, but possesses a fairly prominent mean streak also.
Non Mage NPCs-
The discrete Lebanese’s carpet salesmen
Carnix’s old band, they are a bunch of poor arse stoners.
Patrick O’reilly
Tratitum’s old work friend, he thinks he is a pro womanizer.
