Old Jake was the harbor master at Port Welgan before it was raided and looted by raiders from the west. Well respected by the locals and a useful source of information to adventurers Old Jake was sorely missed after his death in 1E511.

Background

Old Jake was an ex-sailor who became the harbormaster of the port of Welgan. Because Welgan was somewhat of a backwater Old Jake was hence one of the more influencial local personalities in the community.

Career

Jake like many others from Welgan began life as a sailor. As he got older he was no longer able to spend his life at sea and settled down to manage the port authority in Welgan. He was responsible for the monitoring of imports and exports and the taxation of these matters.

Interests

Old Jake was a sailor but not a commercial fisherman. It was therefore possible for him to enjoy the recreational aspects of fishing. Renowned around Welgan as the best fisherman around Old Jake won the annual Welgan Fishing Competition 10 years in a row from 1E501 to 1E510, this was a local record. After his death a number of his trophys mysteriously went missing pressumably looted by the survivors of the western raiders.

Death

Old Jake died in the late days of Tristan's month in 1E511. Like many others in Welgan he was killed by raiders from the western continient. Unlike most of his peers he managed to take a few with him - the corpses of at least three raiders were found outside his hut with assorted wounds from fishing spears and harpoons. The legion cremated him and added him to the honour list of those who lost their lives defending Welgan.
