Reurin is the Southern-most City of
Salenheim. It is built on the Grogregoth Pass, the only feasible pass though the Southern
Salenheim mountains. As such, Reurin is a city with only one purpose: to block the pass and defend Southern
Salenheim from the dangers of the southlands.
Population:
Reurin is a Fort city, with a good half of its population being soldiers and almost all the rest being associated with the military in some fashion. The permanent population of Reurin during the Old
Salenheim time period was roughly 10 000, but changed frequently. For example Reurin has the ability to garrison an extra two full legions of Salenheimian foot-soldiers if the need should arise.
Culture:
Reurin is populated by mostly southern Salenheimians, and as such adopts their culture. Strength is respected and combat abilities are held in high regard amongst the populace, including women, to a degree.
The people of Reurin, however, party just as hard as they fight, holding huge feasts at different times of the year and consuming, as a whole, massive amounts of alcohol. In fact, behind only weapons, armor and mercenaries, ale is Reurin's biggest import.
Trade:
In the Old
Salenheim period Reurin had little in the way of goods to trade. It provided
Salenheim with protection and this service is repaid with cheap imports of food to the city, paid for in part by
Salenheim City.
However it should be noted that the wild game found in Southern
Salenheim is in large demand, and often the hunters of these beasts hail from Reurin.
Religion:
Reurin is the main seat of worship for the Major God
Konrad the Avenger. The defensive but powerful nature of
Konrad's teachings, fits well with the lifestyle of a fort town and the large value
Konrad puts on hard training is a very helpful lesson for any warrior to learn.
