Tiagaranth often referred to as "the holly city" or "the city of light" is the only large settlement in the entire Grater Salenheim desert, It is a large temple city dedicated to the Sun god Tiagarath and was founded in 1E10 soon after the forming of the Salenheim Empire. The city is built on the coast around the High temple of the sun which is at the center of the city; the temple and such the rest of the city face out towards the desert and is only walled in on the seaward side.

Population:

Tiagaranth in a moderately large city with a permanent population of around 75,000 most of this population consist of devotees to Tiagarath (priests, monks, knights) as well as tradesman and producers to support the temple population (who are renowned for making a tidy profit).
The harsh climate of the desert prevents the population of Tiagaranth growing much larger than the 75,000 is has peaked at, as was once said by the famous warrior bard Slippery Jack Billow-beard on a tour though Tiagaranth "It takes true faith to live here, faith in a god or faith in a profit are up to the individual".

Culture:

when describing the culture of Tiagaranth Zeal, Faith, and Madness are three words that often come to mind. Most of the cultural aspects of the city involve praising the sun god in some way, in fact the city's very location is due to this the priests saying "to truly worship the Bright Lord we must expose ourselves to his power".
Many festivals to Tiagrarth’s honor are held in the city each year many of which requiring specific commodities which brings income to passing traders.
Pilgrimages are also a big part of Tiagaranth's culture the most dangerous and famous of which is "the holly walk of light" participants in this pilgrimage set out from Tiagaranth and walk into the desert for exactly one million paces and then returning, however participants may only walk towards the sun so as such they may only walk from midday to sunset on the way out and from sunrise to midday on the way back, it is said that those who complete this task every year are guarantied a place in the sun after death.

Trade:

As a city Tiagaranth produces little it does not use, in fact it is often said that Tiagaranth's only export is faith.
This is however not quite true as there is a small but strong trade of a particular hallucinogenic fungus that grows in the desert from Tiagaranth, no one is quite sure if its legal but it is never questioned aloud.
Tiagaranth also has a large number of black smiths due to the large number of knights in the city, however much like the knights them selves the vast majority of these black smiths skills are mediocre.

Religion:

Tiagaranth is dedicated totally to Tiagarath god of the sun, worship of any other gods in this city is forbidden as it is seen as an insult to the purity of the sun.
Interestingly Tiagaranth is the only city in Salenheim where worship of particular deities is enforced.
