Lord Welmer the Strong
Major God of Ice, Mountains and Defense
Physical description:
Welmer is virtually always shown as a short but heavily built man with shoulder length light brown hair and a long beard. He wears a horned helmet covered in frost tracings and carries a massive hammer, also covered in frost tracings. He wears heavy plate mail and is shown in a defensive stance. Very occasionally, especially in the far south, closer to the Bogshlarrg population, Welmer is shown as a frost giant style being, rather than a man at all, with blue skin and white hair and beard, though his armour and stance usually remains the same.
Teachings:
Welmer teaches his followers the arts of tactics and unwavering strength and endurance in battle. The basic idea of Welmer's fighting style is two simply endure until the enemy is too weak to continue, thus rendering him no longer a threat. This non-confrontational attitude is also found in his skill as a tactician. Welmer is also known for teaching chivalry among his men.
Home:
Welmer calls a great ice-palace on the highest peak in the Southern Salenheimian Alps his home. The peak is located directly on the meeting of the borders of Bog, Slarrg and Salenheim. Few adventurers have ever tried to scale the peak, and all have failed.
Followers:
Welmer's followers are common throughout the South and in the nations of Bog and Slarrg. Within Salenheim, his patron town is the town of Welgan, but his temples are spread throughout the nation, even extending to Tiagaranth, as he shares common interests with Tiagarath. Major followers include knights and fighters, who seek to embody his unwavering strength and endurance. He is the patron god of the Salenheimian Foot-Legion.
Symbol:
The symbol of Welmer is his horned helmet, usually represented in steel or iron and elaborately engraved with frost styled swirls. It is worn by many warriors of Welmer and is kept in his temples, usually on top of stone statues.
Avatar:
Welmer nearly always has an avatar within the world. These vary in power according to need and nearly always seek to make peace within the land. Previous avatars have included several great Salenheimian Emperors, various Generals, religious leaders and some ordinary men. They commonly rise to power in their fields, but exhibit no real distinguishing characteristics apart from increased fortitude and diplomacy, unless there is great need for them.
