- Who are you?
I am Xavier Galway
- How old are you?
21
What year were you born and how old were you when you Awakened?
I was born in 1989. The first noticed signs of my Awakening at the age of 3 where I was bullied by some kids similar to my age at a preschool. According to the teachers the world darkened and one boy was thrown 20 metres backwards. It wasn’t until I was 17 that I was able to grasp the true power of my awakening through the help of a man I came to know of as ‘master’. It was only 1 year ago where died during my training as a part of my final test, thus infusing his spirit with my own.
Did your Awakening make you old beyond your years or are you emotionally a child?
My awakening did not alter me in anyway, but it was at the point where my master’s spirit entered mine, that I gained the knowledge of many many times my age.
Do you look your years?
That I do
- What was unique about your childhood?
Nothing really, the powers from my awakening I managed to keep suppressed and did not explore them until the age of 17.
What were your early years like? Did you get along well with your family or were your relations troubled?
My early years were no different to those of similar age, bar every now and again where certain moments in my life, such as extreme grief, sorrow, fear and pleasure have unleashed certain things within me. My family was a broken one, my father being military, was never around and my mother was always worried of him, until he was killed in the field of battle in the Afghani War, he died on the 29th of April 2008.
Did you like school, and if so, why?
School I felt was the same for me as any other child. But I took great interest in the areas of science and computing.
Did it challenge you or insult your intelligence?
To a degree it insulted it, as I wanted to learn more about certain things, were I was only able to do in my own time, as I was constantly held up by others in the class and teachers.
Did you fit in the high school pecking order or were you ostracized?
I fit into the high school pecking order with a group of others such as myself, misfits we were termed.
Or did you create a clique of your own, foreshadowing the members-only world into which you’ve stumbled?
As I said, my Awakening was not truly embraced until the age of 17, where school was almost finished, so no I did not create a clique.
What about life after school?
Life after school over the last few years, mostly consisted of me slinking away from society and training in line with my Awakening. My time was also mostly spent on computers and self teaching myself AI programs and computer hacking.
Was there college or did you go straight into the work force?
Neither currently I live in my mothers basement.
Are or were you married?
No.
Do you have any long-term friendships or just acquaintances?
Most of my friends have moved on to better places, but as I was out of touch from the world for a few years, most people thought that I had left them, or that I died.
- What kind of person were you?
A bold and commanding person, not afraid of showing to others my prowess (par my Awakening)
What were you like before Awakening? A chivalrous example to all, or a cad?
I was too young to remember.
Are you likable to strangers or do people have to get to know you?
To a degree, it depends on the type of person and if I ‘click’ with them or not
Are you rude to those who disrespect you or do you turn the other cheek?
I will stand my ground if need be.
What experiences of the supernatural have you had?
Apart from my spirit infusion, not many dealings aside from the common hell spawned daemon from a summoning ritual.
- When did you first feel the brush of magic?
During the beginning of my training with ‘master’.
Was it an unlimited sense of wonder or a nightmare you’re still trying to forget?
I was knocked unconscious by the initial brush, so trying to forget what little I remember.
Have you seen a spirit or a ghost, or witnessed someone do something that can’t be explained away by the normal laws of physics?
I have.
Do you believe the occult to be synonymous with Satan, or are you more open minded?
Occult has its purpose as does satan, within the realms of magic.
- Who was your first mentor?
Master
Who was the first mage to find you upon your Awakening?
Master
Was he helpful or abusive?
He was like the father I never had.
Did he offer his aid or did you have to beg him for it? Or did you refuse his offers?
He offered his aid to me, I refused at first, but explored what the old man was talking about and then accepted.
Does he hold political power among the Awakened, or is he a pariah?
He did not speak much, but I could sense that he was of great power
Are you still loyal to him or do you prefer to forget him?
I am forever bound and thus loyal to him
- Do you maintain a sanctum?
I maintain a shrine to him, to his spirit.
Where do you live and work your magic?
In my mothers basement. She occasionally wonders what all the loud noises and flashes of darkness are.
Or do you share a sanctum with others, such as your cabal or your mentor? Where is it and how obvious is it?
I do not, and it is well hidden, within another dimension of space and time.
Are you attached to it or are you looking to move the first chance you get?
I am bound to it, as it is wherever I go.
• Do you retain any connections to your Sleeper life?
I had lost most connection during my years of isolation.
Do your parents and friends still know you?
My mother yes, my friends, no.
Do you visit them frequently? What about talking to them over the phone?
I live with my mother.
How do you explain your strange absences and new obsessions?
I told my mother that I was going on a working holiday for 2 years to see the world, she was a bit sceptical about it when she was never able to contact me for several years
Do you involve them in your new work?
I keep to myself.
Do other mages know about them?
There are no others I know of.
• What motivates you?
My will to learn and control.
What are your goals? Revenge for a past slight? Mastery of an Arcanum or Arcana? To become powerful in mage society? Or do you spurn power for wisdom and spiritual awareness, preferring knowledge to conflict and wealth?
Revenge upon my enemies, mastery, power.
Do you desire to mentor other mages?
I will lead them if necessary.
Do you want others to Awaken?
That I do.
If you could have anything you wanted (which isn’t beyond possibility for a mage!), what would it be?
Power.
